If your access is limited to certain sites, you can review history but not restore versions from the Staffing timeline.

Admins set roles and permissions in Manage team > Roles and permissions.

Use scheduling history to see what changed on your schedule, who changed it, and when, and to restore an earlier version when a template, a bulk edit, or a schedule assistant run didn’t work out. You can roll back changes yourself, without contacting support.

To open it, go to Schedule > Staffing timeline, select the More actions menu (the caret next to Configure staffing), and select Scheduling history. The Schedule history panel opens beside the schedule.

How scheduling history works

  • Every saved change is recorded as an entry, newest first. Each entry shows what kind of change it was, how many events changed, how many agents were modified, and who made it.
  • Entry names describe the change, such as Applied template: [template name], Events Edited and Published, Schedule generated by Schedule Assistant, Schedule copied (a published test schedule), Time off request approved, or Reverted changes since [date].
  • The entry at the top of the list is your current schedule, so it has nothing to restore to. To undo your most recent change, restore the entry just below it.
  • Restoring a version from the Staffing timeline reverts every change made since that point, for every agent in it. Manual edits, template applications, and schedule assistant changes made after that time are all undone.
  • A restore is recorded as a new entry, so you can restore again if you need to.

Check what changed

  1. Open Scheduling history from the Staffing timeline.
  2. Browse the entries, or, if you’re a manager or admin, filter the list to one agent.
  3. Select an entry to see its details: the agents modified, and for each agent the events created, modified, and removed.

The Schedule history panel beside the Staffing timeline, listing past versions with the number of events and agents changed and who made each change

To find one person in a large change, use Search agents… in the entry’s details.

Restore a previous version

Important: Restoring a version undoes all changes made after it, for all agents, not just the most recent edit. Check the entries above the one you restore so you know what you’ll lose.

  1. Open Scheduling history from the Staffing timeline.
  2. Find the version you want to go back to. This is usually the entry just below your unwanted changes.
  3. Select the entry to open its details.
  4. Select Restore this schedule. Restore schedule for all agents opens and shows the date and time you’re restoring to.
  5. Select Restore schedule.

The schedule refreshes when the restore is complete. For large teams, this can take up to a minute. To undo a restore, restore the entry from just before it.

Restore one agent’s schedule

Restoring from the Staffing timeline applies to every agent in the version, even if you’ve filtered the timeline. To roll back one person’s events only, restore from their own schedule instead:

  1. Open that person’s schedule. For example, press ⌘/Ctrl + K, search for their name, and select View Schedule.
  2. Open the page’s menu and select Scheduling history.
  3. Select the entry you want to go back to, then select Restore this schedule.
  4. In Restore events for [name], select Restore to this version.

Only that person’s events are restored.

If you can’t restore a version

The top entry has no restore option

This is expected. The top entry is always your current schedule, so there’s nothing to restore it to. Select the entry just below it to undo your most recent change.

The restore option is missing on every entry

Check that your role has Restore schedules set to Can restore schedules. If your access is limited to certain sites, you can’t restore versions from the Staffing timeline.

Re-apply a previous template instead

If you only need to undo a template application and want to keep manual edits made afterward, re-apply the earlier template instead of restoring a version:

  1. Go to Schedule > Templates.
  2. Find the template that was applied before your unwanted changes.
  3. Apply it to the same dates on your schedule. See Schedule templates.

The Templates page, opened from Templates in the Schedule menu, listing templates with their interval, channel, queue, and team

Keep in mind: Re-applying a template keeps manual edits made after the original template was applied, but doesn’t undo other changes, such as schedule assistant changes.

For a more complex rollback

If you need to roll back something these options don’t cover, chat with our team and include the date and time of the version you want to restore.
