Saving part of the Staffing Timeline as a template is meant to make it easy to reuse one agent's schedule. Right now, leaving the template's filters at their default can pull in every active agent's schedule instead, and applying that template can create schedule and PTO changes you didn't intend. This article explains why that happens and how to save a template that's scoped to one agent.
Important: Saving a template with Site, Team, Queue, and Skill all left blank captures every active agent's schedule for that time period, not just the one you were viewing. There is currently no way to scope a saved template to a single agent.
Why does saving a template affect agents I didn't select?
When you select Save as template from the Templates menu on the Staffing Timeline (or Add template on the Templates page), the only fields that narrow which agents are included are Site, Team, Queue, and Skill. If you leave all of these blank, which is the default, the template includes every active agent's schedule for that period.
Selecting an agent's shifts on the timeline before saving doesn't change this. That selection only feeds the right-click Copy/Delete selected menu, and Save as template ignores it.
What happens when I apply a template that included the wrong agents?
Applying the template creates or overwrites events for every agent it captured when it was saved, not just the agent you intended. This includes PTO and other time-off blocks, and it can also delete or deactivate real shifts that were already sitting in the same time slots.
In one case, a single save-and-apply meant for one agent created around 2,100 unwanted schedule changes across 29 agents.
How do I save a template scoped to a single agent?
Before you select Save as template, set at least one of Site, Team, Queue, or Skill so it matches only the agent you want to include. If that agent doesn't already have a Site, Team, Queue, or Skill that's unique to them, you'll need to assign one temporarily for this purpose before saving.
Keep in mind: Setting Channel doesn't narrow the agent set. A blank Channel and "All channels" are treated the same way, so Channel alone won't scope a template to one agent.
What do I do if a template already created unexpected schedule changes?
Contact Assembled support with the approximate date and time the template was applied and the name of the agent it was meant for. Support can use your scheduling history to roll back to just before the template was applied, then reapply only the changes meant for that agent, so your team doesn't have to fix each affected shift by hand.
